Born in Auckland in 1979, Pierre Hadlow is the founder of SWEATS, a multidisciplinary art and creative studio. Based in a shared workspace in Gray Lynn, Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa, SWEATS also co-founded the artist-run space Eyes On Fire Gallery.
His artworks are characterized by expressive and textured depictions of figures and objects. Exploring the many facets of the human experience, his practice retains a playful innocence while evoking bursts of sensory impact.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design, SWEATS has worked in the international creative arts industry for over 20 years. He has received design industry awards in both New Zealand and Australia, including a Gold Award at New Zealand’s Pride & Print exhibition.
He has also collaborated with his wife, FLOX, on numerous large-scale public mural projects.
