Shuqing Lei, born in Guilin, Guangxi in 1951, graduated from Guangxi Arts College in 1974 and has been working as an educator for a long time. He has worked as the director of the chief editorial office of Guilin Education Television, the director of the art department of Guilin Shanshui Vocational College, the assistant dean of the School of Art and Design of Bowen College of Guilin University of Technology, a professional teacher and an associate professor.

He is also the deputy director of Guilin Yaki Art Research Institute. He is currently the Vice President of New Zealand Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Institute, Vice President of NZ Chinese Painting Exchange Association, Vice President of NZ Chinese Painting Exchange Association, Member of NZ Chinese Artists Association, Member of NZ Chinese Calligraphers Association.
