Non-Space丨Visitors from the Pacific——New Zealand Artists SWEATS & FLOX’s Double Exhibition Open to the Public

On July 19, two artists from New Zealand shared their creations and their trip to China with Chinese audiences through videos and invited everyone to enjoy the following exhibitions.

Preface

Ten thousand kilometers is a time difference of 4-5 hours, a geographical environment and natural resources are very different, and it is also a huge difference between continental civilization and ocean civilization in terms of social system, religious belief, language and customs. “Visitors from the Pacific” presents the works of two New Zealand native artists SWEATS and FLOX from the far southern end of the Pacific Ocean. The two artists hope to express their understanding and advocacy of human and natural environment care through a series of works on the theme of humanities and natural environment in artistic language, and cross the cultural differences and language barriers of 10,000 kilometers from the ocean to the land, and communicate and resonate with Chinese audiences.

SWEATS is good at creating through texture depiction and exaggerated expression techniques. His series of works “Face to Face” in this exhibition aims to analyze and explore the multifaceted characteristics of human beings. Based on his personalized expression techniques, through exaggerated reconstruction and strong color contrast, the picture has an explosive visual impact.

FLOX’s creative themes are usually natural environments, endangered or rare animals and plants around the world, hoping to trigger people’s thinking about natural environmental issues. This time, she exhibits her iconic series of birds, ferns and flowers from New Zealand. Through the depiction and portrayal of these natural creatures, she takes viewers into an exotic, mysterious and magnificent natural world, evoking people’s deep emotions and concerns for nature.
