The 20th China (Shenzhen) Cultural Expo
The 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Expo 2024 will be held at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center from May 23 to 27, 2024. The New Zealand China Investment and Trade Promotion Council, Auckland International Art Space Art Gallery, Hainan Airlines, Origin Honey, ZeaLong Organic Tea Farm, Pacific Alpaca Imported Products, Dianji Dairy, Ailand Kiwi Wine, Wuwan Winery, FLOX Art Studio, Golden Harbor Real Estate Co., Ltd. and other ten New Zealand companies, more than ten New Zealand contemporary artists with a total of 40 works of art, will launch the “New Zealand National Art and Lifestyle Pavilion” (Booth No. 10B22) at this exhibition. Showcase New Zealand’s contemporary art and featured brand products; service trade content introduces New Zealand’s unique contemporary art, pure natural organic brand products and a friendly, natural and kind lifestyle to the Chinese market.

At the same time, in order to expand the dissemination and promotion of New Zealand contemporary art in Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area, the “Flying Kiwi” New Zealand Contemporary Art Joint Exhibition will be held from May 25 to June 12 at Shenzhen OCT Creative Park Art Gallery (specific address: 101, Building F1, South District, Creative Park, Enping Street, Nanshan District, Shenzhen)! Let New Zealand’s contemporary art shine in China like New Zealand’s national treasure “Kiwi” and become widely known.
SWEATS & FLOX
During this trip to China, the famous artist couple Pierre Hadlow and Hayley King made their debut in China under the name of their studios SWEATS and FLOX, participating in the 20th Shenzhen Cultural Expo. SWEATS is known for its unique street art style and bold use of colors, while FLOX has won wide acclaim for its exquisite fashion style and integration of natural elements. Their works not only showcase New Zealand’s rich culture and natural beauty, but also reflect diversity and innovative spirit. This trip to Shenzhen will bring a visual feast to Chinese audiences and promote artistic exchanges and cooperation between China and New Zealand.
Born in Auckland in 1979, SWEATS’ artwork is characterized by expressionism and textured representations of people and objects. His work explores the multifaceted nature of human experience, stimulating an explosion of senses while retaining a playful innocence. SWEATS holds a Bachelor of Arts and Design degree and has worked in the international creative arts for over 20 years, winning design industry awards in New Zealand and Australia, most recently winning the Gold Medal at the New Zealand Pride & Print Show. He has also collaborated with his wife FLOX to create many large-scale public art murals.
An aerosol and stencil artist with a degree in Fine Arts, Flox has been making her mark on the urban landscape of central Auckland since 2003. Her signature native birds, ferns and flowers are a celebration of the New Zealand environment. Using distinctly vibrant and confident colours, combined with exquisite proportions, they magically transform grey walls into vibrant depictions of the natural world. Flox quickly expanded her practice into prints, publications, murals, graphic design, site drawing, projects and workshops for schools and the public at large. She has been involved in numerous collaborations, charity work and both group and solo exhibitions. Her accessible narratives broaden the appeal and have made her one of New Zealand’s most recognised contemporary artists. Spotted in Berlin, Hong Kong, New York, Taiwan, India and the US, Flox continues to spread her wings and make her presence felt in public spaces and homes around the world.
